Talking randomly to random strangers is probably not as helpful as finding something to be interested in & joining a group of others with that interest in common (?)

Go for it @utopia! Think of it as building community. Not just for yourself but for the people you're interacting with. It's a subversive act these days 🙂

I have registered to attend a meeting next week in the hope of the group being something I can contribute to - it is a big step for me as I really am quite a loner and don't think I have much to contribute anywhere generally.

I made friends with my back neighbour, 18 months ago - over our fallen dividing fence, & having it replaced.
We had never spoken to each other (in 14 years), before that.
Now we each take it in turns, to invite each other over - every 6 weeks or so.

I agree @Sharman but I think that both have a place. The world can seem like a very unfriendly place and we have the power to inject some friendliness into it. But yes, real connections are more easily created when we interact over time.
Are there any groups you can join?
