I’ll usually sleep as much as possible after the big day, usually to recover. I stay as far away from the sales/shopping as I get totally stressed out, so some time with just me & my dog, a good book and some quiet music the night or day after Xmas.

@Former-Member Avoiding people. Keeping to myself as best I can would be my ultimate coping tool.

That inner peace is not to be messed with 🙂 Sounds like a good plan @Jumpingcactus

Problem is, as much as I find myself relishing the alone time, this is no different to any day of the week, and I quickly feel bored and lonely! It’s like I don’t want to be around people but at the same time I kinda do...?

Me too @Dave1977 im like that too. Away from everyone. Trouble is where I live the tourists come down fir about 6 weeks. Just csnt get away from crowds. I tend to stsy home a lot.

@Jumpingcactus Yes I get anxious thinking there will be nowhere to get away.  But I think even 5 or 10 minutes taking a walk might help.  What will you do to find "me" space

Thanks @BlueBay

Going to an event like that with a bunch of strangers is way out of my comfort zone - even though my job is highly social (disability work).

It provokes anxiety.

I had much resistance to the idea of celebrating with a bunch of strangers who I will never meet again.

But yes, at least I'm not alone then on that day - & It feels like something special.
