Re: Battles

@TunedIn @Dreamy @REDLINEZ750   my psychiatrist is changing residence soon and i am not coping with that at all. i like the hospital that she is in i know the nurses i like the car park i dont like the idea of moving one single bit!

Re: Battles

@REDLINEZ750   hmmm yucky hot weather.   and monday is meant to be 35 degrees! 😮

Re: Battles

Thanks @TunedIn yeah im just thankful i landed in the hands of a good therapist first up, on a health plan i saw one & wanted to leave with the blokes teeth after giving him a second attempt on GP advice

if that was my first experience id never have gone back into another again.

it astounds me some stories i hear about judgemental therapists or ones that only open the door to keep power running.

picking up how they are in the room is telling of what to watch for.

is thier body language of superiority or mutual.

do they ask if youd like to , offer or tell you to take a seat.

is thier cadence clinical or carinng, is the smile welcoming or warning

thats outward observation of first 2osec then seated observe inward for spidey senses and settle in for an hour lomg interview its sad that people who just need a to be heard and given caring guidance could endure countless sessions with the wrong therapist for them and blame themselves for no progress.

i think rule of thumb is do you feel better when you leave than you did when you walked in.

doesnt matter how heavy topic was they should still see you leave in a state of calm.

Re: Battles

@Bunniekins your comment about liking the car park is 1oo per cent  relatable ,and only one who gets it could say that  😃

sorry cant support mention of 35 degrees monday 😩

bring back the frost!!!!!

Re: Battles

Morning @Dreamy, how’s your day going?
I got reminded it’s the weekend today lol. Hope it’s been good to you so far. I’m off to sleep soon 😴

Don’t apologise re posts -all good!! I do the same but not sure I actually find them 🥹😬. Sometimes I get a bit lost in the notifications but hopefully I’ll get more of the hang of it!

Oh your pantry that gets a clean out hey!! That’s very useful hahah. I always forget what’s in my pantry and end up throwing stuff used by from awhile ago or rediscovering what I had brought and forgot about haha. Nice one!
How funny after my accidental cleaning mission I think the box I was looking for is at mums just waiting on her to check it when she had the time.

Hey @REDLINEZ750 I definitely get you re challenges of new therapists or when there is a change in plan of appts. I hope the sane forum has been a good place to land whilst you are waiting on your therapist to open her new practice 😊

Hey @TunedIn, I love that question and it’s had me thinking. Like @Dreamy I am pretty sensitive when it comes to health professionals and their patterns of communication, their treatment plans and how they are in a session or how they operate out of session- re emails or appts etc. I pick up a lot and it’s generally not the words said that are the biggest signs. Likely a bit of RSD in there too perhaps.
It’s always been a massive hurdle trusting someone new. As @Dreamy mentioned also I to have been let down by health professionals so even more untrusting. I operate on my gut feelings like @Jynx mentioned and keep mental note of flag tallies as the easiest way to describe it I think. Got the green flags and the red flags (some amber ones aswell). I observe for sometime and over time it becomes clearer if they are the best match I guess.
I have been a lot more open in certain areas like @Dreamy has also mentioned highlighting to my therapists what’s happened with other health professionals so hopefully she can have a better understanding and maybe know where my head goes re cancelled appt or change in routine of treatment. At the same time I’d like to work on where my head goes when cancelled appt do arise as sometimes not in our control and likely 95% nothing to do with me even though my brain can think it’s 100% has to do with me and take it personally, hurt like you have been put threw a washing machine cycle and hung out to dry lol (but so true 🫠).
I realise though these feelings are so valid and make a lot of sense due to my experiences 💚

So definitely feel you @Dreamy and I am hoping as the weekend goes by you feel ok to go to your session on Monday and feel like you are able to let her know how you felt 🙏

Talk soon 😊

Re: Battles

See how you go I reckon @Dreamy. Trust may take time to build back up, but if she is consistent in her approach, displays empathy and understanding and all that jazz, hopefully it'll get easier 😊
