Re: Am Not Coping

Toby really is a lot better tonight @Shaz51  - still super snuggly but much happier and brighter. Hate it when my little buddy is unwell but he was better enough this morning not to have to take him to the vet. Hopefully he continues to pick up over this evening and is back to his normal bubbly little self by tomorrow.

Going to head off forum now for a while and watch the cricket. Hope you have a relaxing night my sister Heart

Re: Am Not Coping

Very true @Sam3 Not so long ago I was spending 12 hrs a day at a stretch in a city hospital. Sitting by my husbands bedside for a month not knowing if he would live, much less ever make it home. Then for months on end after he was released from hospital, it was specialist apts most days of the week. These days are relatively easy in comparison, but I think my resilience is waning. Plus I do realise my own MH condition is currently a major problem too, the worst in some time. Perhaps because hubbys needs are no longer so pressing, urgent or life threatening, I have reached a stage where I can now literally fall into a heap?

@Zoe7 @Shaz51 @Faith-and-Hope  Todays apt for hubby was a minor one. He has an infected big toe. So I booked him in with a podiatrist today to tend to an ingrown toenail. All good. Although he is booked in next week for monitoring blood tests and CT scans which are done quarterly to check on his Stage IV cancer. Oncologist the following week to review. So its a big week next week.

Zoe, so pleased to hear that Toby appears to be back to his usual sunny self. Are you still watching the cricket? The result means nothing to your Hurricanes, as they have top place stitched up. Good to see George Bailey do well tho, he is one of the genuinely nice guys of cricket..

@Former-Member, will be thinking of you  this coming week

mr shaz is getting his first mental health phone call on monday , first time in nearly 4 years

Re: Am Not Coping

Perhaps it’s not that your resilience is waning. Maybe it’s your health/energy levels (ie you’re simply exhausted). Just want to see if that can be re-framed because it honestly seems on evidence that you keep on persevering in a  resilient way amidst major life challenges 🥇

Re: Am Not Coping

I didn't see most of the second half of the cricket @Former-Member  fell asleep on the couch and stayed there all night. I do feel a lot better this morning but still very tired. Toby is back to his usual happy self so that is wonderful. He is asleep now but was jumping all over me to wake me up earlier and that is a good sign he is feeling much better.

I need to get a few things done today but will take it easy - needing to not overdo it after being so unwell yesterday. Have to head out later to the shop, chemist and petbarn - won't tske Toby as it is getting warm already and he would have to stay in the cr for a while and it will be too warm in there for him today.

I hope hubby's toe isn't giving him too much grief - my dad had an ingrown toenail and it was very painful for him. Good luck with all the other appointments he has as well - my thoughts will be with you. Heart

Re: Am Not Coping

Morning @Zoe7 .  It sounds like both you and Toby are well on the mend.  But definitely best not to overdo things today.  Rest up ... both of you.  Its a cooler day here today ... only predicting a top of 26C today. Beautiful.  But heating back up to 37C for Tuesday, before dropping back to cooler temps after that one hot one.  And the nights are becoming much more comfortable .. rather than 23C overnight lows, it looks like we can expect more like 18C ... much more conducive to sleep.  I hope!

Hubby's toe has been sore for about a week, but only the last few days it became quite red and inflamed.  So I was glad to get him in to see the podiatrist yesterday.  Just have to keep up the betadine now to keep it in check.  Should be fine.  Thats the thing isnt it ... when you're older (hubby will soon be 71) and been very sick for a long time ... there are so many little things which go wrong and add to the overall distress.  Tomorrow it's the dentist, because he has been complaining about a crook tooth.  Last week it was the eye specialist.  This Tuesday will be blood tests and Wednesday booked in for a series of CT scans for the Oncologist.  Thursday I take him to his weekly exercise physiologist session, which is trying to get him moving a little better and help with balance ... a must for Parkinsons patients. Saw his GP last week too.  But yes, although still painful and complaining, his toe will be fine. Of course I have my own appointment scheduled for Friday.

I'm feeling a little hung over today.  Indulged a little too heavily last night and paying the consequences today. Silly isnt it, when you know damned well you'll regret it later, you go ahead and do it anyway?  Just wanted a few moments or hours of oblivion.  And still didnt get it. How is everyone else's weekend going? @Sam3  @Shaz51  @Faith-and-Hope  @Owlunar

Re: Am Not Coping

You have a jammed packed week this week @Former-Member  - so many appointments for both you and hubby but all very necessary too. Is Friday your big appointment? Hope you have that sedative ready to help you get through it Hon Heart

Yes Toby is back to normal and I am feeling a lot better. I had to give him a bath on Friday night to clean him up - poor little cherub must have had a terrible tummy ache - it is those times when you wish they could talk to us to tell us what is wrong but his little face was enough to tell me he was not well.

As for the over indulgence last night - you will no doubt be feeling that for most of today so look after yourself Hon - drink plenty of water and a lot of rest - there is not much else you can do - the damage is done. Hoping the hangover wears off as the day progresses and you start to feel a little better.

Haven't seen the ladder to see who we are playing this Thursday - I won't be going because I am working on Friday and I know that would be too much for me - I have been struggling to stay awake watching the games at home so definitely wouldn't make it through a live game. I fell asleep last night and missed our fieding performance but found out we lost this morning - lucky it didn't affect our place on the ladder and we still get a home final.
