Does anyone else hate exercising?

I hate working out, but am trying to get into the habit of doing some form of exercise every day. I walk either with a friend or on my treadmill, and lift small weights. Does anyone else have this problem? I feel as though most people feel good afterwards while I just feel tired, sore, and grumpy!

Hi @AnonymooseOG

I hate exercising too. My psych is always on my back about doing something and I despise it. I struggle to find the energy and motivation to start and afterwards I don't feel better.

Can totally understand.

Well done for actually doing exercise though.

Re: Does anyone else hate exercising?

yep

but i see its positive effect on my mental health all the time

these days it is hard to fit in, but i know that if i don't then i'll be struggling

Re: Does anyone else hate exercising?

It can be difficult to fit in, for sure. I've started lifting a dumbell with one arm as I watch tv or type

Re: Does anyone else hate exercising?

The only motivation I'm finding to exercise is through vanity. I'm trying to lose a little weight and tone my arms. I definitely don't walk daily (even though I should), but I recently started mindlessly lifting a light weight with one arm as I watch TV, study, or work on my laptop. That's been surprisingly successful 😄

Re: Does anyone else hate exercising?

I exercise excessively as part of my eating disorder @AnonymooseOG  the majority of the time I do not enjoy it. It’s a chore. I don’t have the energy either and often finish feeling exhausted.
Putting my eating disorder aside, moving myself daily is good for me. Gentle exercise is good. Most of the time my body appreciates the movement, helps with stiffness, sore back and does my mental health good.

when I’m on the treadmill I watch something on my iPad. It helps pass time. Same if I’m on the bike.
when I use to go for a walk- I would listen to a podcast.

could you perhaps plan something nice to do once you have finished exercising? Maybe sit down for a nice cuppa? Sometimes I go sit outside on my swing chair and have a nice cuppa, or depending how I am feeling I will go lay on my acupressure mat.

Re: Does anyone else hate exercising?

Yeah I absolutely do. I feel like angry whilst I'm doing it (don't know why) and tired and grumpy afterwards.

I'm very envious of these people who say they get a "buzz" after exercise.

Re: Does anyone else hate exercising?

SAME! I feel angry during and immediately after high-intensity forms of exercise. I wonder if that's linked to a surge in adrenaline, or perhaps testosterone metabolism?
