National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day ❤️💛🖤

Hearing children’s voices today plays a crucial role in them becoming influential Elders and leaders of the future.

Hello wonderful forum members. Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day ❤️💛🖤 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is a time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to celebrate the strengths and culture of our children.

On or around the 4th of August, all Australians have the opportunity to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.

A huge number of Australia's first children continue to face ongoing challenges stemming from colonisation and its effects. This includes discrimination, poverty, systemic removal, intergenerational trauma, dislocation from land and culture, and community disempowerment.

Here at the SANE Forums we're passionate about empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Please comment below with your favourite piece of Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Island Art in Celebration (this can be a painting, photo or video - within guidelines)  ❤️💛🖤, feel free to speak to the community a little about what it is about this particular piece you love.

I'll kick off! Below is my favourite piece celebrating Aborginal culture. For anyone Melbourne based you will be no stranger to this wonderful mural by Adnate. Adnate grew up in inner city Melbourne and at school he didn’t learn anything about indigenous culture. From there Adnate began exploring and learning about indigenous culture; the beauty of the people:
