But there's-a nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear
Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer

Now the publican's anxious for the quota to come
And there's a far away look on the face of the bum
The maid's gone all cranky and the cook's acting queer
Oh what a terrible place is a pub with no beer

Then the swaggie comes in smothered in dust and flies
He throws down his roll and rubs the sweat from his eyes
But when he is told, he says what's this I hear
I've trudged fifty flamin' miles to a pub with no beer

Now there's a dog on the v'randa, for his master he waits
But the boss is inside drinking wine with his mates
He hurries for cover and he cringes in fear
It's no place for a dog 'round a pub with no beer

Hiya @TAB, everyone!

Taking an easy night tonight. We had pies and potato gems with some salad. And our Younger Daughter has decided she wants to become a Master Chef while school's out, so she baked choc chip bikkies today... nyum...

We've been trying to get all our loose ends tied up so that we could bunker down at home, but more ends kept popping out. I think we've finally gotten there today. And on our last-for-a-while big-town supermarlket shop.... they had loo paper! Yay!. One big pack, will see us through for a while. 🙂

gosh things are weird with the isolation here. someone in my town has COVID-19 so im trying ot be really careful with how much i need to go to the shops.

Sounds nice re tea @Jacques used to be a dept store cafeteria in Adelaide forever ago that served pie w chips and gravy just goes so well together lol

@Adge  we have had nne for 4 weeks in our super market, people traveled out from sydney (over 5 hours  away) to raid our supermarkets, they cleaned out everything. they had 2 bus loads come here from sydney
