Hello to all the participants in this story. I believe that I may, in some ways, have similar characteristics to Sooty the black cat. Our respective educations may have been sadly neglected, in as much as neither of us have read the Winnie the Pooh stories.

I admire the inventiveness and playfulness of all the participants. I also identify at various times, with some of the more serious and personal aspects of the additional parts, that are more to do with peoples' own experiences.

While I have followed most of the story so far, it was actually Sooty who coaxed me into writing myself into the story. Indeed, I am a little anxious about the words “writing myself into the story.”

The “inner child” aspect of my being is one that, I think, has not been well developed. Most people consider me to appear rather serious. I have even been asked whether I have a sense of humour at all, though I know that I have.

As I have been reading the adventures and playfulness of the participants, I have wondered what I could offer and what might return to me, should I insert myself into the story. Also the question about how I could participate.

I also notice that there are a number among the participants who share that sense of wariness about close associations with others, and tend to be cautious about getting “too close or involved”. And yet, I also understand the pleasant feelings described in some of the mutual support and cosiness “scenes”.

@Appleblossom While I understand the reason for the thistle not being popular here, I do love the emblematic presentation in your post earlier. Maybe a reflection of my heritage.

With Best Wishes to All

I have worked out how to include a link to another or previous post, such as I made reference to a couple of days ago. So, if anyone is interested in checking out that post on:

(Methods for Preparing Written Material)

You can just click on the link above and the page will open in a new tab on your browser (I use “Firefox”). If you do check it out, I would be pleased to know if it is useful and whether any adjustments, additions or alterations may be usefully included.

The problem with the "Authentication mismatch........" notification occurring when attempting to “Support” a post is, I believe, because that page has been open for sometime. The solution is to refresh the page with the "Refresh circle" just to the right of the back-forward arrows near the top left of page. When the page has been refreshed, you will then be able to indicate your “Support”.

P.S.: I also have problems finding my way around the functions on the site. The reason that I post "How to articles" and added information to posts is to learn as much as I can and pass on the information. By doing this I am endeavouring to develop my knowledge of the site in it's present format in ways that allow me to pass on the information to other members and assist us all in making the best use of this forum site.

Please ask if you have any questions at all. Because many, and possibly most of us benefit from the answers.

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

So @HenryX

Welcome to the story, looking forward to seeing who your character is. The more the merrier as we say. Everyone has an inner child it's just a matter of learning to let them out to play. I have been enjoying letting mine out to play via these stories and it has increased my happiness ratio in my real life too which is an added bonus.

All my love,

Eeyore

@Oaktree

Bonjourno! Thank you for the welcome.

Maybe I can be both. Smiley Happy

I felt a bit pushy writing myself into the story, so wasn't sure whether to ask first if I could play along. It's a great idea. Will be interesting to see where it goes. I'm sure Tigger did spot me hiding in the grass. I'll have to visit the secret garden hut sometime.

I think @HenryX  might come along as well.

I'm still feeling my way along in the Forum as a Newbie so expect a faux pas every now and again.

I actually remember a few bits of High School French and Italian. About 20 words of each Smiley Frustrated

Au revoir

@HenryX

You're a kind soul to take time out to post information that helps others on the Forum. I have found them enlightening while I flounder my way through the Forum and threads. TBH, I'm very much an introvert and felt quite awkward posting in an ongoing thread, almost like an intruder. From the previous posts I gathered it's a supportive and creative gang that are not at all judgemental and welcome new people whether you actively participate or not. I have to admit I was very nervous to post the first time. I'm also not great with strangers, and not good with crowds so perhaps this can be a safe place to work on that.

I think my inner child died a long time ago, a very long time ago but this thread might help me find it again, so I thought I might give it a go; combine some fun while letting out some emotions. It took me hours to come up those little paragraphs and to try to figure out how to write myself into the story. Perhaps just find an animal that you relate to and introduce him then sit back and let the story write itself when the time comes.

My only worry is I can be a bit mercurial  - productive bursts, then go quiet for a while. Not bipolar, just moody I think. ATM I just need to keep myself distracted from some real life MH issues that have flared up.

Take care buddy

How exciting to come back and  find returned members along with new ones

@Oaktree

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for noticing that not only Tigger was feeling depressed, also Sophia.

You felt the same picked up the vibe at the time.

I have tears now and this also tells me that my depression has realised it is not welcome.

To read that this thread and connection with lovely people who join in,  watch from the sidelines, hide behind objects brings you joy in real life.

It certainly does me.

I love writing freely and this is an opportunity to do so.

@Flax @HenryX

What an honour it is to have people wanting to join.

This brings so much happiness to others so no need at all to tread carefully or feel that you are intruding....

Quite the opposite in fact.

If we catch anyone looking in we grab the opportunity to say hello and welcome

So a huge welcome to Sooty the cat. @Flax  do you know of the english series Sooty and Sweep? A beautiful story.

How clever @Oaktree to remember the mysterious cat at the secret hut. The cat was glaring at me in fact.

I hope that you will feel welcome and friends of us all.

@HenryX  our very own forum quandary technology issues fixer. How could we not welcome you.

The thistle of Scotland.. I have Scottish and Irish heritage on my father's side with his surname. Goes back well before the Norman conquest.

Bonjour et bienvenue J’ai également étudié français pendant quatre ans. J’ai fait des études d’italien à l’école du soir avant la naissance de mes garçons.

Benvenuti anche in italiano. È un piacere conoscerla. Adoro i gatti. Al momento ne è rimasto solo uno che è seduto sulla scrivania con me ora.

Tigger has landed

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

@Appleblossom

Laughed at the image of your Nana attempting to eradicate thistles.

Stinging nettles we called them in England.

I used to know a Greek lady who boiled them and drank the liquid.

I used to smile when we walked around her garden, as she showed me what was currently growing, always proudly showing me the thistles known by me as weeds.

You mentioned knowing the name Sophia as a schoolgirl.

Was this from studying history or knowing a person christened with Sophia?

Gumnut we are always happy to have you along with us in whichever way you feel comfortable.

There are no rules.

There are no expectations.

No judgements allowed.

Only fun fun fun bounced Tigger

When will we find out which character @HenryX will  be.

Isn't  Aloysius the postbat still awaiting to be adopted?

Or do you have something in mind already and holding back for the right moment.

Your choice.

Now I must be off to find the latest update on our adventures.

I made the tea once, in deference to nanna.  My husband thought I was totally cracked.  I probably was.  Actually my nanna dried and sprayed them in beautiful colours as centrepieces to dried flower arrangements, often for the church.
