Hi @ApricotJam, welcome in. 🙂

I'd like to hear more from you about what you're struggling with. It's a bit mindbending how much the concepts of faith and trust can vary from one church to another. Some would take that verse as meaning you believe what you're told without questioning it, some would take it as defining the difference between relying in yourself and relying on God... similar, but not identical understandings.

But I'm trying to work out if it's more that you feel that it's hard to trust when others around you have no obvious problems doing so?

There's no wrong in struggling with questions as a Christian. Even John the Baptist questioned whether Jesus was really who he'd though he was. (Luke 7 18-23) If there's one thing that I've found over the years, it's that if something is true, it will stand up under questioning. This applies in science, faith and life in general. God's big... he can handle whatever we throw at him. 🙂

  It's more I get frustrated with myself for feeling so f***ed up and letting my feelings thoughts impact so much. I have this idea, (maybe completely stupidly) that if I could just trust that God has things under control, that all of this is part of His plan and I am safe and loved then I wouldn't find things so difficult.
