Re: Christmas Loungeroom

One thing that used to bug me and mum was when we went to my dads sisters house about ten years back. Every time their neighbours would always turn up and hijack proceedings.
It was fine that they would turn up.. But then to take over conversations and treat the place like it was the next stop on a Christmas day pub crawl.. Annoyed my mum and me.

Shhh don't tell anyone I said that lol.

I love family but then you do need space.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

Toby is a lucky pup haha @Zoe7

Good on you 🙂

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

I am happy to hear that many forumehave taken the day for themselves today to enjoy it 🙂

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

A decluttering & sorting exercise @Zoe7 ?

That's the sort of exercise (on To Do List) that many people find overwhelming, or keep on putting off (including me).

I'm well overdue for quite a bit of sorting (& throwing out).

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

I really do need to get out & about more @Zoe7 See things & do trips away.

I just don't enjoy doing that on my own - don't manage all the driving either.

So I don't go (oh no $$ either).

I've lived & worked in 4 different States, & saw a lot of Australia - but that was such a very long time ago.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

I have had everything stored in the spare room for a couple of years now @Adge  - the majority of it is school stuff and without a 'home' to take it I have had to leave it all there. I am only on class for 2 terms at this stage so won'ttake a lot in but will sort out what to take and what can stay stored here as I go. It will take a few days to do but I want to get my garage finished first so I can store some of the boxes in there and free up a litte room inside the house.

Have to clean out my clothes cupboard as well - so many things I have been keeping but no longer fit - so getting rid of a llot of those things as well - already done one section and have a garbage bag full already Smiley Surprised

and obviously many others I've missed

Today has turned out to be an okish day, busier than expected and unfortunately ended on a sad note for a family member.

My mother and I went to breakfast this morning which was reasonable. We then walked along the river and back which was about 4kms.

It was home to relax after this, I had a snooze only to wake up baking hot. My mother rang her family who invited her for the afternoon. I didn't really want to go, and initially told mum to take the car and go by herself (she was going to go by public transport). It wasn't a big gathering just a few cousins, Aunties, uncles and friends at my cousin's suburban home. I coped pretty well, even enjoyed myself a little. There was a little food leftover from a BBQ lunch. We stayed longer than I wanted to but family is important to my mother so I stayed for her sake. But I do have a lot to do before I go away tommorow for over a week and was getting anxious about that. Plus the animals needing feeding. Just as we were about to go, my mother wanted photos (she always does :face_with_rolling_eyes:) but my cousin had received a text that he was trying to make sense of, so he opted out. Within a few minutes he informed us a good friend of his has taken his life today. It's so horrid that there is a NEVER a day that goes by without someone being affected by suicide. So damn tragic and 😔.

So I have to repack the car as everything got shifted for passengers yesterday. And I've got emails to take care of plus a number of things still on my 'to do' list.

So if you are struggling today, it's understandable and OK. Please take care of yourself, family and friends. Life is precious and short.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

The older I have got the more I have become a homebody @Adge Having my fur babies ...especially Toby has added to that. I know Cat would be okay on her own as long as she is fed but Toby wouldn't cope well being left with anyone else. He loves my sister but the last time I left him inside at my parents' place while I was outside he whined at the door until my sister picked him up and brought him out to me - he is such a sook (and yes super spoilt).

I am more than happy staying home and doing things around the house - there is a lot to do - hoping to get my lounge room and dining room painted these holidays (have had the paint for well over a year).

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

What a horrible end to the day for all of you @Sans911 You are right - it doesn't matter what the day or occasion - and in fact it is often days like this when people just do not cope and as we both know finding that way out in those instances happens - it is extremely sad but we have both been there and get the pain that leads to suicide. Life is precious and short so we need to hold onto what we can when we can in the hope that that gets us through that day and the next.
