@GezzaP I used to work in a residential unit and it can attract abusers. We used to try and make it worthwhile for people. There was one rotten egg in our unit, he should have been removed via attrition. He hated his job and mistreated intellectually disabled people. The head nurse was lovely same with the other workers. I was employed through an outsourced agency as a disability leisure worker so I wasnt an employee of them per se. There was not much I could do. I was only there a few hours several times a week but the head nurse really possibly could have got him sacked. It wasnt the nicest place to work in but the residents were lovely. My agency really cared about the rights of the intellectually disabled.
