Re: Life can be a Pain
Hi @Zoe7@BlueBay@Shaz51@Appleblossom
It's really good to be back - this computer is much smaller and will be easier to carry around when I go away - and it will take me time to get used to the smaller keyboard but it is really fast and this us a good thing.
I am glad I was able to use the app on my TV to let people know I was okay - just computerless - it was very hard work typing using the remote control and flattened the batteries very quickly too - but I am back and I will get used to the smaller keyboard.
I got a Christmas letter from my relatives - I know where they are now and I will be able to write to them - they are both still very ill
Great to be back

Re: Life can be a Pain
Yea for the new computer
It is great that you have had a letter from your relatives but not great that they are very ill. At least now you know though and can be in contact with them.
It is really great to have you back @Owlunar - you have definitely been missed.

Re: Life can be a Pain
Hi @Zoe7
It is great to be back - and I am getting used to the smaller keyboard but the backspace key is in a different place - funny that - but it will be okay
I missed everyone so much - I had the anniversaries of both my parents during the last few days - they are 4 years but only a few days apart - and I think this is the end of the dark dates for now
I had not realised how annoying the old computer was - I guess I could have been tidier with the desktop but never mind that - it was still under warranty but I was not really interested in it anymore - still it is being checked over and I might find myself with two computors but imagine waiting 3 weeks to find out! - No way - not interesting enough
I hope the fires in Hobart are under control - we have had fires in Gippsland which has put me off going there this summer - and today there were fires in Central Victoria - I think this could be a bad season for them this year
It's so great to be back - I really miss my computer access and the TV app was just pure hard work and no fun at all
Thanks Zoe

Re: Life can be a Pain
The mainland is ertainly copping the heat at the moment @Owlunar It is not as hot here and it seems like we are going to thankfully miss the heatwave with only high 20s expected here over the coming week.
It took me some time to move to a smaller computer and keyboard but you soon get used to it and it becomes second nture to use after a while. As with everything - it takes practice to get comfortable with it though.
The fire west of Hobart is still burning but it is in a remote area so hard to get to. There are no towns or properties under threat so that is a good thing. It is expected that it will have to very much burn itself out because of where it is. There are remote are firefighters in the area fighting the fire at present and they seem to be doing a great job in keeping it as under control as they can in the circumstances.
Have my gp and pdoc appointments today and need to get my shelves up in the garage and then star moving things back in. It is going to take some time to sort things out but need to get most of the underway today as we are expecting possible rain tomorrow and Friday.
I need to head to the shop and the chemist as well so a little side trip will need to happen at some stage to the hardware store - will probably go to the closest one to the doctor rather than a longer trip to Bunnings.
Lots to do today for me but at least I can finally get things done in the garage - once I get the shelves up it will be much easier to sort things out - very much looking forward to doing that
Hope you have a good day and can get more used to your new computer. Love and hugs

Re: Life can be a Pain
Hi @Zoe7 and @outlander
I am getting used to the smaller key board but so far it is really inconvenient that the backspace key is in a different place - but my fingers will soon get used to that - in fact I can say my fingers know more about the keyboard than my brain does
You have a busy day today Zoe - I guess you have to start preparing things to go back to work next term - I hope you have a school to go to by then - because I have been off-line for most of the time I have missed out on what has been happening
But my grand-daughter has been living alone for a couple of years now and has learned a valuable lesson - her Dad decided to get her car serviced and the cost of things scaled up - it has not had enough attention and moving so far away home she will need it - she is starting to think about moving north now and that is a lot to think about and plan - I have had moving north suggested to me several times but I have a lot of services here in Melbourne - one being Government Housing and I doubt I would get any place - let alone such a nice place - if I moved.
And I like Melbourne - it is considered the World's Most Livable City and those of us who live her talk about the weather more than people anywhere else - and of course - it is a politically safe subject so far - things could change.
I know how rugged the bushland us around Hobart - I have seen it from a plane often and sometimes they have to let a fire burn out - that is actually a good thing and here the fires are often in more open areas and can be more easily fought though they can move faster under dangerous conditions
We are in for a couple of hot days here and I have another appointment tomorrow - my pain specialist - and these appointments are covered by medicare but they are like gold and not going means someone else is missing out - after running around in the heat a lot over the last couple of days I slept a long time last night - I needed it - and I used to love the hot weather - but not anymore - and yes - I can get a flare of pain if the weather is too hot - but I really don't think we can compare our pain - afterall I take SR medication and that works all the time without wearing off as much as IR medication
But yes - I am feeling better today and hope to tidy my home a bit after being a bit disorganised for a few days - that's what not having a computer does for me - fun
Thanks girls

Re: Life can be a Pain
Thanks @Appleblossom
I still have to catch up with what has been going on in your life lately - in just a few days so much can happen
So I am thinking of you and knowing how the Royal Commission is affecting people - I know it needs to happen and no one can be above the law which is one reason this commission has to take place but it does take a lot out of people - my own relatives are caught up in this too and I could have been had I made a fuss at the time so I am watching out for the outcome as well -
I have got over what happened in the past - the man who harrassed me has died and so there is nothing more to say about him really - but still - I find reading about it very hard and although I look at it on the internet sometimes it's a bit like scratching an itch - it feels better for a moment but then flares things up
So I know this is happening and I think of you
